2018 Smart fortwo Cabrio Brabus

Wer Überraschungen mag, kann von Dustin viel lernen, lässt er sich doch ständig etwas Neues einfallen. Seine Familie und Freunde wissen da genau, was sie an ihm haben – vorneweg seine Freundin Michelle. Während seiner Anfrage, ob wir eine passende softgarage für das aktuelle Smart-Cabrio haben, erläuterte er uns noch schnell seine neusten Pläne. Michelle begeistert sich schon längere Zeit für den sagenhaften Cityflitzer, der zusehends die Straßen Berlins bevölkert, durfte aber noch nie hinterm Steuer sitzen. Irgendwie hatte sich die Chance einfach noch nicht ergeben. Wir stimmen zu: Was für eine Bildungslücke?!

Anyone who likes surprises can learn a lot from Dustin. He’s always coming up with something new. His family and friends know exactly what they’re in for, especially his girlfriend, Michelle. During our meeting with him about the suitability of a softgarage for a Smart convertible, we learned about his newest plan. For quite awhile, Michelle has been excited about this terrific urban car which she’s seen increasingly on the Berlin streets. However, she hasn’t yet been allowed to sit behind the wheel. Somehow the opportunity just hadn’t presented itself. It’s time to get her up to speed!

Surprise, Surprise

Aber damit ist für immer Schluss. Jetzt nimmt Dustin das in die Hand und organisiert eine abendliche Probefahrt durch Berlins Mitte. Dazu hat er mal eben sein Leid bei FGM geklagt und die SMART-Profis haben prompt und hilfsbereit ihre Tore geöffnet. Irgendwie konnte Dustin, der sonst eher auf Audi-Cabrios steht, es auch nicht mehr ertragen, jedes Mal dieses „Schluchzen“ vom Beifahrersitz, wenn ein brandneuer Smart vorbeigerauscht kam. Somit läuft die Maßnahme, auch für ihn, nicht ganz uneigennützig. Wir haben Glück, nehmen die Einladung zu dieser grandiosen Surprise-Show an und dürfen die beiden ein paar Meter auf Ihrer Spritztour begleiten.

Heute ist es soweit, Tag X. Michelle ahnt erst nichts, erkennt dann aber sofort an der Kontur des gut verpackten Gegenstandes, worum sich die ganze Aktion wohl drehen mag. Entschlossen packt Sie Ihr Erlebnispaket aus und strahlt dabei wie ein Honigkuchenpferd – und der selbst ernannte Eventmanager strahlt gleich mit, alles richtig gemacht! Mit dem Bewusstsein, dass es sich beim fortwo um keinen Kofferraumriesen handelt, sind auch wir positiv überrascht, als die Tasche samt softgarage problemlos ihren Platz findet – passt scho‘ !

Her long wait is over. Dustin made it his job to organize an evening test cruise through Berlin’s city center. For this, he reached out to FGM, and the Smart professionals have promptly opened their doors. Somehow Dustin, who gravitates more towards Audi-convertibles couldn’t take it any more—every time a brand new smart car come rushing by, he’d have to hear Michelle “sobbing” for one in the passenger’s seat. So, his new idea isn’t completely unselfish. We were lucky enough to get an invitation to this grand surprise show and to accompany the two of them on their outing.

Finally the day came. Michelle had no idea at first, but she immediately recognized the contour of the well-packed object in front of her and was compelled to investigate further. Determined, she unpacked the prize and looked toward her self-appointed event manager with a radiance that showed she was over the moon. He’d done it right! Since we knew the compact Fortwo is no giant of car, we were pleasantly surprised that the softgarage covered the Smart without any problems—a perfect fit!

Wir nutzen den Moment und inspizieren das Raumwunder – nette Ausstattung, eigenständiges Design. Dustin erläutert noch ein paar Details, bevor die wilde Fahrt auch schon los geht. Dank flinker Automatik und durchaus übersichtlicher Abmessungen, hat Michelle bereits zügig ausgeparkt und zeigt sich jetzt durchweg angetan vom Titangrauen mit dem rotem Verdeck im coolen Brabus-Trim. Die 90 PS scheinen zu gefallen, denn wir haben etwas Mühe im dichten Getümmel dranzubleiben. Hier, im Stadtverkehr, fühlt er sich sichtlich wohl, der smarte Flitzer, und spielt gekonnt seine Stärken aus.

After the unveiling, we took a moment to inspect the miracle of space-saving which the car sports via very nice equipment and an independent design. Dustin filled us in on a few more details before we took off on our wild ride. Thanks to its nimble automatic transmission and its concise dimensions, Michelle pulled out quickly, already showing she was pleased by the titanium gray with the red soft top in cool Brabus trim. The 90 PS seemed to do just the trick, because it proved hard to stay still in the dense congestion. Here in the city traffic, the smart speedster felt safely seen and could play to its strengths.

Berlinbummel

Erste Station: Riesenrad. Gerade weil immer noch kein Schnee in der Hauptstadt liegt, und das Wetter locker als Herbst durchgehen könnte, flüchtet man sich gern an Orte, die ausschließlich saisonal zugänglich sind. Kurzum, der Weihnachtsmarkt am Roten Rathaus hat noch genau 2 Tage geöffnet und ist der „alltime favourite“ für antizyklisch organisierte Valentinstage. Das Riesenrad garantiert dabei einprägsame Momente und einen tollen Blick über den Alex. Gleich ums Eck tauchen die beiden in das märchenhafte Nikolaiviertel ein, welches seine Gäste in zauberhaft beleuchteten Kopfsteingassen zum Schlendern einlädt. Der Glühweinstand passt perfekt in Dustins Planung, hier wird nicht nur mit einem guten Tropfen geworben, sondern auch Rühmanns Filmklassiker „Die Feuerzangenbowle“ auf der Leinwand zum Besten gegeben. Tolle Idee, die Zeit nehmen wir uns…

Our first stop: the ferris wheel. There’s still no snow in the capital city, so since the weather could easily pass as autumn, we decided to make a seasonally appropriate stop. The Christmas market at the Red Town Hall was open for two more days and is the all-time favorite for those holding out for Valentine’s Day. The ferris wheel guarantees memorable moments and a great view over Alexanderplatz. Right around the corner, our couple dove into the fairytale-esque Nikolaiviertel, one of the cities most beautiful neighborhoods which invites guests to stroll along enchanting and illuminated cobblestone streets. The mulled wine stand was perfect for Dustin’s plan—we could have not only one of Germany’s most beloved libations, but they also had Rühmann’s classic film, “The Punch Bowl” playing. We took some time to enjoy this great idea.

Nachtschwärmer

Bevor wir Michelle und Dustin in die Nacht entlassen, machen wir noch einen Zwischenstopp Nähe Oranienstraße. Hier gibt es angeblich die beste Pizza in ganz Kreuzberg. Wir nehmen Kurs auf den Lieblingsitaliener des Pärchens und lassen uns noch etwas durch die Straßen des Viertels treiben. Während die beiden das JBL Soundpaket des SMART testen und Ihren Lieblingssong trällern, salutieren wir zum Abschied per Lichthupe und lassen uns wie besprochen, unauffällig zurückfallen.

Before we left the night to Michelle and Dustin, we made a quick stop near Oranienstraße. On this street, you can find the best pizza in all of Kreuzberg. We took off to meet the couple’s favorite Italian, which gave us a chance to drive through the streets of this district. While the two tested out the JBL sound system of the Smart and found their favorite song, we bid them farewell and, as promised, left discreetly.

Den zweien wünschen wir nur das Beste und ein tolles 2019! Ob Michelle auf den Geschmack gekommen ist und demnächst ein eigener SMART unter der softgarage steht, werden wir sicher rechtzeitig erfahren.
